About
Nigel High School is a school with a clear purpose: initiative, upliftment and achievement. We strive for excellence in academics, conduct and character. Founded 10 May 1963, we serve more than 1,080 learners with a staff of 46 educators. English is the language of teaching and learning.
Academics
Grades 8–9 (Junior Phase)
All learners take the full national curriculum: English Home Language; Afrikaans First Additional Language; Mathematics; Natural Sciences; Social Sciences (History and Geography); Technology; Economic and Management Sciences; Life Orientation; and Creative Arts.
Grades 10–12 (FET Phase)
Every learner takes four compulsory subjects — English Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, and Life Orientation — and then chooses three more from the school's electives in the sciences, commerce and humanities, including Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geography, History, Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Tourism, Hospitality Studies and Computer Applications Technology.

Applications for new learners are made through the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) Online Admissions system, with supporting documents submitted to the school office. Please contact the office for the current application window and the documents required.
